Malory Eagles underlined their determination to re-claim National League silverware this year with an emphatic win over London Polonia.

Malory were on top in the opening set thanks to some fine setting from Banks but Polonia, and they eventually claimed a 25-23 success.

The second set saw Malory dominate from the start, winning by a comfortable 25-16 margin.

Both teams fought hard in the third set, with Polonia claiming a 25-21 win.

Strong offence from Le Sausse and Maslach for Polonia being matched by middle blockers Brown and Westphal. The set progressed, neck-a-neck with Polonia just edging to 20 before Malory.

Time-outs from coach Williams were unable to disturb Polonia’s concentration and they took the set by 25 points to Malory’s 21.

A stern talk from Williams sent the Eagles out to set four knowing they had to regain the initiative. Both teams traded play but excellent serving from Banks gave Malory an all important lead.

Continued defensive brilliance from Fee and fast middle attacks from Brown and Westphal gave Malory the set, 25-20, and the match by 3 sets to 1.
