As the debate about Plough Lane’s uncertain future continues, one thing that is certain is that the current impasse allows another full season of Oval Racing to take place across the winter.

The first of those autumnal evenings is this weekend, when the doors are thrown open on Sunday (October 4) for a meeting of both contact and non-contact racing.

Last year's bangers title went to Reece Priestly from the Dreamers team after his main rival Rob Barnes received a ban.

In his pursuit of Priestly, Barnes allowed the pressure to get to him one evening which resulted in ugly scenes, and him throwing away his chance.

Former champions Rob Haines and Mark Pope will both be looking to reinstate their dominance over the young pretenders.

Although it is not only about winning in bangers as plenty of drivers will be out there simply to cause havoc, ruining as many drivers' nights as possible.

The stock rods return after appearing at Arlington last week, where Mark Latter recorded a hat trick of wins.

It is round 15 of their Polleysport/Yokohama Race Series, which sees Eric Walker leading from Andy Sturt, Chris Woods and Ben Grant.

The dynamic lightning rods compete in round 14 of their year-long series.

Jason Busby still heads the pack from Ben Furness, with Danny Day and Chris Aldridge chasing hard.

Finally, the youngsters in the junior stock cars return to Wimbledon where they held their historic first ever meeting for this class earlier this year.

After a few installation meetings, the formula is now growing steadily.

Having graduated from the Ninja Karts earlier this year, Jim Cogger, will look to do well on his home track and cement his reputation as one to watch for the future.

Racing starts at 5.30pm with turnstiles open at 4.30pm.
