Esher result should be academic in Cambridge
11:29am Friday 2nd November 2012 in Rugby Union By Stuart Amos
Head coach Ollie Smith has told his Esher men to worry about their own performance and the result will look after itself when they travel to National Division One basement boys Cambridge this week.
Tries from Ollie Frost and Joe Brown, plus two Rob Kirby penalties gave Smith’s side a 19-12 home triumph over Cinderford on Saturday – a result that would have been more convincing had Esher not conceded a late try.
The Molesey Road outfit are 10 points adrift of league leaders Ealing and will be after a win and a try-scoring bonus point to maintain the pressure on those above them in the table.
“If we really want to be a team challenging for the title then these are the games you have to win in style,” he said.
“They have nothing to lose and will no doubt raise their game a little bit because of who we are.
“We have been consistent in our levels of performance of late.
“If we want to win with four tries, then we have to do nothing different. Concentrate on our own performances and the rest will take care of itself.”
