When it comes to the Premiership Sevens, Harlequins full back Mike Brown is starting to feel his age.

Quins, Northampton Saints, London Irish, Newcastle Falcons, Leicester Tigers, Cardiff Blues, Newport Gwent Dragons and defending champions Gloucester Rugby will descend on the Stoop tonight [Friday] to contest the first piece of silverware on offer this season.

With all the finalists boasting young academy players, 28-year-old Brown, having watched the group stages, may be feeling old, but admitted he was impressed by the next generation of rugby stars coming through.

He said: “Watching the guys that are coming through in the sevens side is making me feel quite old.

“There are a lot of young players on show, but it’s great for them to show what they can do on the TV and it’s great exposure for them.”

Quins earned their place in the finals night with wins over Northampton Saints (40-7), Saracens (36-0) and Wasps (26-19).

In spite of the successes, Quins have made four changes to the squad for tonight’s finals.

Louis Grimoldby, Charlie Walker, Sam Stuart and Kieran Treadwell have joined up with the senior squad on a pre-season training camp in the French Alps ahead of the friendly against Grenoble on Saturday.

In their place come academy scrum-half Jordan Burns and invitational players Ian Clark, Simon Pitfield and Gavin Dampies.

Full squad: Izzy Fao’i, Jack Maslen, Ian Clark, Sam Aspland Robinson, Simon Pitfield, Henry Cheeseman, Alosio Yamoyamo, James Chisholm, Jordan Burns, Gavin Dampies, Ollie Lindsay-Hague (c), Joe Marchant.
