Harlequins chief Conor O'Shea has confirmed that Chris Robshaw will be out of action when the Big Game 7 rolls round on December 27.

The England skipper has been sideline by a shoulder injury that saw him miss Quins' 15-7 Aviva Premiership defeat of Newcastle Falcons on Saturday.

Robshaw is also likely to miss the trip to London Welsh on January 4, but should be back for Leicester on January 10.

Against Newcastle at the Stoop, Tim Swiel kicked all the points at the Stoop leaving Quins eighth in the table ahead of Saturday's clash with Northampton Saints at Twickenham stadium.

O'Shea said: "Five out of five with the boot and everyone says he can’t kick, which is interesting.

“We’re very lucky we’ve got him down here. You have to give credit to Newcastle. The way they try to play is completely different to the way they have in the past.

"They challenge you; we didn’t get our defence right but you have to take into account the make-up of the team, but for us to get the win will make for a better Christmas.”

He added: "Robbo will be back for Leicester here, most likely."
