Loan star Tom Dunn wants to return to parent club Bath at the end of the season – having clinched London Scottish a top four finish and learned his trade as a hooker.

The 21-year-old joined Scottish in January following injuries to hookers Tedd Stagg and Lewis Calder, and has been fighting it out for a starting place with Adam Kwasnicki.

Dunn has plenty of Bath A League experience, but reckons battling it out at the top end of the Championship is better preparation for life in the Premiership.

“There’s plenty of set pieces in the Championship, which is great for me and an area I am really focusing on.

“I think it works out on average about 20 line-outs a game and 15 scrums, while there are normally only about six line-outs and four scrums in A League games.

“I want to help Scottish finish in the top four and I know the squad will push as much as possible to do that.”

Scottish travel to play-off rivals Rotherham Titans tomorrow after the Yorkshiremen were knocked off top spot thanks to a heavy home defeat to London Welsh last week, while fifth-placed Scottish secured a 38-27 win over Plymouth Albion.

Meanwhile, Scottish backs Oli Grove and Mike Doneghan have penned new deal two-year and one-year deals respectively with the club this week.

Acting head coach James Buckland said: “Mike has been one of the finds of the season and did a great job last week at 13. He’s a real talent and we are pleased to keep him.

“Oli is an important character to have around the squad.”
