London Scottish back Ollie Grove is confident the Exiles will stay in the Championship ahead of their upcoming relegation play-off fixtures, writes James Dickenson.

Head coach Simon Amor’s men finished ninth during the regular league season, and now face home and away ties against Moseley, Plymouth Albion and Esher to avoid the drop.

But Solihull-born centre Grove fancies Scottish’s chances of retaining their place in the second tier of rugby following last season’s promotion from National League One.

“The team is feeling great going into the play-offs, the boys are all confident,”he said.

“We weren’t too worried about who we play and when, we believe we can beat all the teams that we are set to face.

“I have no doubt we will stay in the division, nor does everyone at the club.”

The 21-year-old utility back has found himself in a number of positions this season, including a recent run out at fly-half against London Welsh and former Scotland international Gordon Ross.

“I played at 10 for 20 minutes three years ago, but it was good playing against a tough side at the opposite end of the table,” he added.

“I would be happy to play there again. I have spoken to Simon and told him I will play wherever he needs me, as long as that’s not in the forwards.”

The youngster has enjoyed a solid campaign this season, and is hoping for a successful career in the game.

“It’s been good, I moved to full back for seven or eight games which I was pleased with until getting injured against Esher,” he said.

“Now I’m getting a bit of strength back in my shoulde, and feeling confident ahead of the play-offs.

“You always think about your aspirations, and I want to play at the highest level possible.

“London Scottish is the best place for me at the moment. The team is going well and I’m enjoying it.”

Scottish’s play-off schedule: March 10 Esher (a), 18 Moseley (h), 23 Plymouth (a), April 1 Plymouth (h), 14 Moseley (a), 21 Esher (h).
