O'Shea hopeful over Evans' Quins talks
6:03pm Thursday 25th October 2012 in Harlequins By Stuart Amos
Director of rugby Conor O’Shea is hopeful Harlequins fly half Nick Evans will commit his future to the Premiership champions.
The Kiwi playmaker’s current Stoop contract expires at the end of the season and is yet to sign a new deal and O’Shea is confident talks will reach a positive conclusion within the next fortnight.
“It is nothing to do with money. Nick has some family issues he needs to take into account,” said O’Shea, who confirmed Evans was expected to return from an ankle injury in time for next week’s visit of Gloucester.
“Everyone wants Nick to remain at the club and once those issues are resolved we are all hoping the outcome is positive.”
But if Evans does not remain O’Shea is confident Ben Botica and Rory Clegg can fill the void.
“Nick even said to me the other day that in Ben Botica, Rory Clegg and Louis Grimoldby, we have three outstanding fly halves coming through our system.”
