Director of rugby Conor O’Shea has warned anyone who thinks his Quins just have to turn up to beat London Welsh tomorrow is deluded.

Quins entertain the Premiership’s whipping boys – who have conceded 197 points in four defeat thus far – at the Stoop having lost 36-13 at Exeter Chiefs last week.

O’Shea’s side have endured a tricky start to the season which has included a 39-0 home defeat Saracens.

But the Stoop chief, boosted by news centre George Lowe has been given the all clear to return to action after a 12 month lay off, is confident his side will be back to their best tomorrow – because they will need to be.

“If you look at the stats, we pride ourselves on being top of the off-loading, line breaking, passing and ball carrying charts, but we are well off the pace at the moment,” he said.

“We are not even thinking about the result. We are judged on results, but I only care about how we play.

“Welsh will be incredibly motivated and will scrap.

“If we play the way we can we have shown over the past four years that we are one of the best teams in England and win more than we lose.

“The result will take care of itself.”

Lowe is expected to feature in Monday’s A League visit of Saracens and O’Shea cannot wait to have him back.

“He’ll not play in the first team for a while, but just having him back is a massive boost for everyone,” he said.
