Richmond Ladies’s Amy Turner has warned England Women to fight Welsh fire with fire at Twickenham on Saturday.

The 27-year-old scrum-half-turned-hooker is on the bench for the clash – her first international since last year’s 2-0 series win over world champions New Zealand.

Wales are in search of a first victory over the English since 2009, but Turner is up for the challenge as her team go for a seventh consecutive Six Nations title.

“Wales always up their game and always want to beat us,” she said.

“We respect the players they are, but we can’t focus on the opposition.

“We worry about what we want to do, and that will be our priority.

“The team has a good mix of experience and young blood coming through.

“It’s an infectious environment to be around.”

Turner started her career as a hooker at Kingston Rugby Club and returned to the position this season having won more than 50 caps in the number nine shirt.

She played for England against the Black Ferns in November at rugby HQ and is looking forward to a return.

“It’s very special to play at the home of English rugby,” she added.

“50 caps as a nine was a good achievement. It’s a natural progression to change back.

“It’s hard work, but I do actually love it.”
