Laidlaw makes Counties debut
6:05pm Thursday 22nd March 2012 in Rosslyn Park By Danny Butterwick
Rosslyn Park fly-half Ross Laidlaw helped England Counties to their biggest ever win over Ireland with a 34-16 victory against the Ulster Bank International team at Preston Grasshoppers on Friday.
Laidlaw was making his debut and got on the score sheet after just seven minutes when he converted the first try of the match.
He then converted again in the first half to cap a breakaway try and rounded of his scoring with a penalty at the start of the second half.
Laidlaw was the only Park representative to play after Laurence Ovens did not make the team, coached by Park head coach Jan Bonney, Both should be back in action for Park this Saturday as they host Fylde in a third versus fourth match-up at Priory Lane in National One.
Their second XV, meanwhile, ensured progress to the Incentive FM Surrey County Cup semi-finals last Saturday as they beat London Irish Wild Geese 44-20.
Young centre James Cordy-Redden scored a hat-trick of tries, Paul Unseld got two and prop will Johnson also got one to set up a last four tie at Dorking on April 14.
