Weybridge Vandals captain Cassian Bramham-Law admitted ring rust was a factor as his side toiled hard to beat rock-bottom Teddington on Saturday.
The recent floods have left Vandals unable to train or play at Brownacres since the turn of the year and it showed as they overcame a 7-5 half-time deficit to beat their struggling visitors 29-7 at the weekend.
The win goes a long way to securing Weybridge’s London Division Two South West survival, while off the pitch the club has launched a fundraising drive to cover the costs of flood damage.
Vandals go to Effingham & Leatherhead on Saturday.
