The 2015 Festival of Rugby, which will finish when the Rugby World Cup final kicks off at Twickenham on October 31, is set to attract one million participants.

Over 700 events have been registered in the festival at clubs – including Teddington RFC – nationwide, with more than 300 having been completed since festivities were launched six months ago.

The festival visits Harlequins later this year, while Teddington host a club open day on September 13.

RFU rugby development director Steve Grainger said: "We're delighted with the level of interest and the range of different activities taking place to involve so many people across the country in the Festival of Rugby.

"This is about having fun but is also an important opportunity to raise awareness of our sport this year and show what it has to offer everyone from all age groups and in all communities.

"Our rugby clubs are embracing this chance to welcome new people and we hope it helps to inspire the next generation of players.”

England Rugby 2015 managing director Steve Brown added: "This is one of rugby's biggest years and the Festival of Rugby 2015 enables everyone to join in and feel a part of the celebrations, whether it's through a bake sale, choir performance or rugby match.”
