Movie Preview Show:

Here is the new 5 minute trailer plus interviews for next week’s new releases.
I’ve picked out my top 3.

Transformers: Age of Extinction 3D (12A) Release date July 10
Sci-Fi / Adventure
Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles. With the voice talents of Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime), John Goodman (Hound),Ken Watanabe (Drift), Robert Foxworth (Ratchet)
Director: Michael Bay

Cade Teager (Mark Wahlberg) an automobile mechanic and his daughter Tessa (Nicola Peltz) make a discovery that accidentally activates alien machinery which arouses the suspicion of the government as well as a hoard of alien bounty hunters.
Director Michael Bay who worked on the first Transformers (2007) and Transformers: Dark of the Moon is back at the wheel (no pun intended). I wasn’t a huge fan of the third movie which was 2 hours 35 minutes long (I knew I should have gone for a comfort break!) but apparently this fourth outing is even longer at 2 hours 45 minutes. Come on guys it’s Transformers for goodness sake not Shakespeare.

Wandsworth Times:

If you were a big fan of the TV series and the toy franchise you will be pleased to know that this film is the first in the franchise to introduce the Dinobots. And while we are in a nostalgic mood it’s a joy to hear that reassuring voice of Canadian actor Peter Cullen who returns yet again as everybody’s favourite Transformer Optimus Prime. Cullen was the original Optimus Prime voice at the start the TV series in 1984 and then in the animated movie in 1986 plus the all the three previous movies. It’s unbelievable that it was 30 years ago when Transformers appeared on our TV screens for the first time.

Begin Again (15) Release date July 11
Comedy drama, Musical romance
Cast:  Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Catherine Keener, Adam Levine, James Corden, Mos Def and CeeLo Green
Director: John Carney

Wandsworth Times:

A chance encounter between a disgraced music-business executive (Ruffalo) and a young singer-songwriter (Knightley) new to Manhattan turns into a promising collaboration between the two talents.
Keira Knightley surprises audiences by actually singing all the songs herself and playing the instruments. For all you Maroon 5 fans watch out for lead singer Adam Levine. Knightley is also joined by fellow Brit James Corden.

Boyhood (15) Release date July 11.
Drama
Cast: Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke, Tamara Jolaine, Nick Krause and Jordan Howard
Director: Richard Linklater

Wandsworth Times: Boyhood follows the story of a Mason (Ellar Coltrane) a young boy growing up between the ages of 5 to 18. This movie is worth a watch just to experience this unique piece of film making. The story literally traces the boys journey from child to young adult as director Richard Linklater filmed this over a 12-year period. Quite an achievement.
