UK Box office taking over £9.6 Million within a week:
GOTG was one of the biggest ever original Marvel openings in UK history taking more in its first four days than the first instalments of Iron Man (£5.6m, 4 day opening), Thor (£5.46m, 6 day opening), Captain America (£3.3m, 3 day opening) and X-Men (£4.8m , 4 day opening) and exceeded the 5 day opening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (£6.04m) which by the way was Awesome!

In the United States GOTG has knocked out franchise favourite, Transformers: Age of Extinction to become the biggest Tuesday gross of the year, taking over $10million in just one day, following a similar record breaking Monday, GOTG also became the biggest August opening ever.

Explaining how the songs come to play in the story, director James Gunn says, “One of the main story points in the movie is that Quill has this compilation tape of 1970’s music that he got from his mother before she died.
