Yes it’s now confirmed that Sam Taylor-Johnson will no longer be directing the Fifty Shades sequels ‘Darker’ and ‘Freed’.
It was no secret that Johnson and author E L James locked horns on many occasion during the making of Fifty Shades of Grey. There were also rumours that E L James wanted to write the screenplay for the next two films.
The problem is that Sam Taylor Johnson did a really good job with the transition from the page to the screen despite the critic’s initial reactions in making the best-selling books a successful movie.
I was one of those reviewers who was pleasantly surprised that the film was actually quite good. Once again it was a wise choice keeping James away from the script which was well handled by screenwriter Kelly Marcel.
But don’t worry both Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) are under contract with Universal to appear in all three films. Phew!
