Two veterinary nurses will swap their scrubs for sky diving gear when they jump 10,000ft out of a plane for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Amy Rulton and Emma Hunkin, who both work for the animal charity, hope to raise £800 when they complete the challenge at Hinton Skydiving Centre, near Oxford, on May 11.

Ms Rulton, from Muswell Hill, north London, said: "I have never been in a plane before but I'm not scared at all. I can't wait to do it and hopefully raise some money for Battersea."

Her colleague Ms Hunkin, from Morden, said: "I've wanted to do a sky dive for a long time, so I thought doing it for Battersea would be a great idea."

Battersea Dogs and Cats home has taken in more than three million animals since it was established in 1860 and relies on charitable donations.
