As the Tooting MP, who attended a local secondary school and sixth form college, I want to congratulate the young people of Tooting for achieving some fantastic results at both A-level and GCSE over the last two weeks.

Both as a parent, and as a local MP who reguarly visits our schools and sixth forms, I have seen first-hand the amount of effort the staff, governors, parents and students put in.

These results are well deserved.

Young people are facing difficult times, but Tooting students have risen to the challenge - and have even bucked the national trend in results.

Everyone locally should be extremely proud.

I would also like to say a thank you to Burntwood, Chestnut Grove, Ernest Bevin and Gravney schools and South Thames College.

They all do a brilliant job of education and supporting our young people and plauyed an important role in achieving this year's results.

And to the students who have reached the important crossroads of deciding whether to continue into further education or training, I wish you all the best of luck for the future.

Sadiq Khan, MP for Tooting
