I appreciate that with the Wandsworth Council elections taking place next spring, I can expect plenty of campaign material through my front door in the coming months.

While all parties will make claim and counterclaim on various points, I would like to single out one leaflet I recently received which I found hard to swallow.

Having lived in Wandsworth for years, I am used to the Labour party stating that if in power they would spend more on special projects by raising council tax from its current low level.

So imagine my surprise when I read the claim in their latest leaflet that council tax would be LOWER if they were running Wandsworth.

With Labour having consistently opposed efficiency measures over the last 35 years, I wondered if this was a spoof, but given that it is produced by Sadiq Khan’s office (with Mr. Khan featuring prominently) clearly it is not!

Does he take us for fools?
