I have just spoken to the Waste department, of WBC, because last Friday, the usual once-a-week rubbish collection day in my street, none of the bags with garden refuse, put next to my dustbin in the front garden, were taken.

Though my small, half-full, regular sized shop carrier bag of household waste (I am an avid recycler and composter, and I do not waste food, so have very little general waste each week) was taken, from inside my dustbin!

I was informed me that if more then 5 bags (which I didn't know was the limit, though I knew one is not supposed to put out loads) of garden waste are put out, then they do not take ANY at all. [I think there were seven, maybe eight, but only half full, as the bags are not very strong and I have a weak back and shouldn't really carry anything big or heavy.]

How totally ludicrous is that! Why?
There is no reason not to take at least five of the bags then, to which I seem to be entitled, even if they then leave the surplus.
It makes no sense what-so-ever, especially as I now have arranged a special collection of 5 bags, provided I drag away the surplus number.

Also, had five of the bags been taken, on Friday, I would have understood the "message" / system, for future reference, rather then having had to telephone today, Tuesday, (1st option after the Bank Holiday weekend).

It is a petty, pathetic and extremely unhelpful policy and in light of the fact that most of the time (for years now) there is virtually no waste to collect from my address, (which no doubt the dustbin people must have noticed,) very inconsiderate and unfair too.

I am most disappointed with this "punitive" attitude of WBC towards their Borough's citizens."
