A pledge has been asked for from all local election candidates in Wandsworth to support an NHS that is "universal, free, publicly funded, publicly provided and publicly accountable"
In addition all candidates have been asked to "oppose the privatisation and marketisation of health services".
The pledge is being sought by the South-west London group of Keep our NHS Public, a national organisation supported by consultants,G.P.s,other health professionals as well as many patients.
It campaigns against the break-up of the N.H.S.and the increasing involvement of private companies in the delivery of health services.
Brian Colman, chair of the local group, stated: "We believe, that like us, Wandsworth voters are opposed to the breaking up and privatisation of our health service,a service, that is the envy of the world and has stood us in good stead for over 65 years"
The local group intends to make public the results of this survey before the election,in order that voters may see just where their local candidates stand on this vital issue.
