Talking to people who know about the future proposal of Crossrail 2 in this great capital we live in. Then last week’s debate held in the borough will be the first of many to be heard, until the official planning enquiry is held in public.
The Northern line extension enquiry held in late 2013 at Chelsea Bridge Wharf has given some of us an idea of what is to be expected, only the voices will be louder and more concentrated where it concerns communities.
We need to be more informed at every stage of this essential transport link, as without the final route being aligned under our feet uncertainty will remain, such as where airshafts and emergency access points get positioned.
Battersea Park may still be under threat from the branch line reversing tunnels, as original concepts discussed.
Homes and estates may be subject to compulsory purchase orders to make way for key phases of construction by 2018, and what is there we can do about it if the high courts rubber- stamp every application?
Just take the money and run.
The clock is ticking, and a rude awakening will happen soon.
