The past couple of days I have spent hours in St George’s and I have been able to observe so many little acts of kindness displayed by staff at all levels, from the wonderful woman taking meal orders and delivering them, to the consultant who held the hand of a distressed relative.
I should not forget the nurses who cheerfully carried out tasks that would have made my stomach heave nor, of course, the excellent medical care for someone at the end of her life. Many of these people doing such wonderful work were clearly not born in the UK. How would those who oppose immigration staff our NHS?
