I recently voted in the Earlsfield Love Your Local awards.
I believe they are a good idea and way of showing support for deserving local businesses.
However, imagine my surprise when after registering my votes, which required submission of my email address, I began receiving official emails from the local Conservative Party.
I consider it completely inappropriate that Dan Watkins, the local Conservative candidate who organised the awards, should use the email addresses gathered through voting to create a database of people to send propaganda to, even though they have never requested it.
I would resent this whichever party were involved and I hope Mr Watkins will think carefully about repeating this in future years.
