As a resident of Tooting, I am writing to express my concern over encroaching surveillance use in our community.
We are becoming increasingly watched and listened to in a non-discriminatory manner, and this is affecting all of us, “innocent” or otherwise.
Our own MP, Sadiq Khan, has even been subject to this in 2008 twice by the police force.
I am interested to know how Mr Khan felt this affected him and his personal rights, and how he adjunctly feels this affects all of the residents of his constituency.
Will he continue to support his party’s manifesto promise to increase investigative powers, knowing how this has infringed upon his own rights?
How will he continue to protect us, his constituents, when his party wants to strengthen the powers available?
I hope that other local residents are equally concerned, and I hope that Mr Khan is as well.
