Wandsworth Council is proud of its efficiency but, unfortunately, this does not extend to its planning with relation to trees.

In my street, trees that were planted too close to houses have had to be removed. On open space too many trees were planted, leading to the removal of some. Some of those that remain are too close to houses and have to be cut back regularly, others are suffering from the overcrowding.

It would be interesting to know what the cost of maintenance of this poor planning has been. I like trees, but think that more time could have been spent on thinking ahead for 40 or 50 years, rather than bunging in trees all over the place to grab the headlines.
