Chetan Chauhan-Sims has been selected for the GB team rowing team to take part in the sport’s highest competition for his age group, the Junior World Championships. This takes place in Hamburg on 6-10 August and the 14 squad members are now starting an intensive training programme, based in Pangbourne near Reading.

Last year 17 year old Chetan was part of the GB team for the European Championships, winning a silver and a bronze in the coxless fours (See photos). In May this year he was selected for the GB team which took part in the prestigious Munich Regatta, competing in the coxless fours and an eight.

Chetan has lived in Tooting since the age of one, attending Fircroft Junior school and then Emanuel School in Battersea Rise. He is the first Emanuel pupil to be selected for the GB rowing team in 20 years.

The GB team’s attendance at the World Championships is made possible by the Lottery Sports Fund.
