Keira Knightley has confessed she is so bad at cleaning that her cleaner tells her not to bother.
The 29-year-old actress – who lives in north London with her musician husband James Righton of the Klaxons – admitted she has to have help keeping her home looking nice.
Keira said: “I’m a terrible cleaner, really bad. Luckily I have a cleaner to come to the house once a week, otherwise my house would be completely horrendous, and she’s brilliant.
“And she often looks at me and she’s like ‘Did you try and do something with that?’ And I say ‘I tried to make it look good’, and she’s like, ‘Don’t’.”
She laughed: “Maybe [cleaning's] not my thing.”
Keira stars alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in new film The Imitation Game about a team based at Bletchley Park in the Second World War, who were tasked with unscrambling coded messages sent by the German forces using Enigma machines.
Benedict plays mastermind Alan Turing, who was gay, and Keira plays Joan Clarke, his close friend and one-time fiancee.
Keira said: “It definitely helps if you are friends when you are playing friends. And I think just working together – you’ve already got that easy rapport and you already trust each other, which is such a big thing. So you can get through that thing and find something beyond that which is interesting. And he’s such a wonderful actor, I think he’s a joy to work with.”
The Imitation Games is released in cinemas on November 14.
