My new year’s resolution to eat more delicious food continued with a trip to the Stonhouse.
This gastropub is a little bit off the beaten track from the hustle and bustle of Clapham High Street.
I was expecting the pub to be quiet, with everybody banging on about their gym trips on social media, but this was not the case on a Thursday evening.
My friend and I managed to find a table tucked away in a corner next to an open fire.
It is darkly lit and cosy inside, with exposed beams, brick walls and chic leather banquettes.
Whatsmore, operators Renaissance Pubs are running a 50 per cent off food during weekdays in January.
With that in mind we began with a cocktail, with traditional and more adventurous options on offer.
I opted for a refreshing cucumber cooler, made up of Hendricks gin and cucumber garnish while my guest sipped a lychee liquor.
A generous portion of vegetarian mezze was served on a large wooden platter, with halloumi, artichokes, home-made hummus and foccacia.
I sampled the parma ham wrapped hake for my main course, served on a bed of ratatouille, swiss chard and cayenne hollandaise.
The hake was a huge portion of chunky fish and the cayenne hollandaise was very moreish.
