The sports pavilion on some tennis courts was set alight, and nearly half of it was destroyed. There were no injuries.
Four fire engines attended and 21 firefighters from Clapham, Brixton and Tooting fire stations attended.
The fire was under control just after 6.30pm and the cause is under investigation.
The site is run by Lambeth Council and bookings will not be taken onsite until further notice.
