A police officer who stalked and sexually assaulted a prostitute by grabbing her breasts was caught when she posted his details on the 'Ugly Mugs' website to warn other sex workers, a court has heard.

PC Irshad Kamal, 44, is said to have been "very aggressive" towards the sex worker, contacting her over one hundred times and loitering outside her house between November 1, 2013 and November 12, 2014.

PC Kamal wore a dark suit and purple tie at the start of his trial on Tuesday, September 22, and spoke only to deny the charges against him.

The policeman, who is suspended from duty at Wimbledon police station,  was arrested after his phone number and description were posted on the website ‘Ugly Mugs’, used by sex workers to warn others of clients they have concerns about.

The victim told the jury at the Old Bailey this week that PC Kamal would be "pawing at breasts, pulling at hair, putting his hands around your throat", and described one incident when he attempted to shove a used condom in her face, telling her "I am paying you, you do what I want."

She said that she saved his number in her phone as ‘not sure to see again demanding Asian’ and described PC Kamal as "whorephobic", which she defined as a man with a negative attitude to sex workers.

After their second encounter, when he is accused of forcibly grabbing her breasts at the communal front door to her shared flat, the victim told PC Kamal that she did not want to see him again.

This led to the policeman inundating her with phone calls and text messages, including on Christmas Day, and attempting to contact her around 100 times between December 6-18 in 2013.

Although she did respond to some of his messages, she insisted this was to try and offer excuses for why they were not able to meet in the hope that he would "read between the lines" and stop contacting her.

PC Kamal also tried using different phone numbers, names and putting on different accents in his efforts to convince the victim to make another booking for him, it is alleged.

On one occasion the victim says she did not realise it was him until he had entered her flat, forcing her to physically push him out of the door. He is accused of returning to outside the flat 20 minutes later, begging to see her, before eventually leaving.

He first contacted the victim after finding her profile on the website Adultwork.com in November 2013, where she offered "the girlfriend experience" to clients and charged around £130 an hour.

The visibly upset prostitute told the court: "I don’t expect people to understand my decision to be a sex worker, but I do expect to be treated with respect."

PC Kamal was arrested at his home on Bramfield Road, Wandsworth, on November 20, 2014. He faces one charge of sexual assault and one charge of stalking. His bail conditions stated that he could not visit brothels or contact sex workers while he awaited trial.

The trial continues.
