The 20-year-old, from Southfields, had a previous conviction for carrying a knife in Thrale Road, and a court register reveals he was due to be back in Wimbledon Magistrates Court on April 27 after breaching his community order.
The court register states that Mr Elwin failed to attend his unpaid work session on March 17, "without reasonable excuse".
He also attended after the designated cut off time on March 24 and left the site "without excuse" on March 31.
The charges and warrant have been withdrawn following Mr Elwin's death.
In interviews, his mother Sandra Elwin said he was "no angel" but had been trying to turn his life around.
Mr Elwin had been stabbed four years ago, after his father's death.
