All of Wandsworth's MPs, as well as many councillors and the London Assmebly member, are backing Britain staying in the European Union as the referendum draws closer.

Rosena Allin-Khan, Jane Ellison, and Justine Greening joined together in Balham this morning to campaign for the Remain group, urging people to vote to stay in the EU tomorrow.

Wandsworth Times:

Labour MP for Tooting Dr Allin-Khan said: "Leaving the EU would put an unnecessary strain on our public services, especially our NHS."

Conservative MP for Battersea Ms Ellison said: "So many people in Battersea are telling me how important being in the EU is for London's economy. With 650,000 jobs in London linked to the EU, we are better off staying in."

Conservative MP for Putney Ms Greening said: "We all get one vote in this referendum and we'll all have to live with the result, but the younger you are the higher the stakes.

"I want us to stay in the EU so that future generations can continue to benefit from the influence and prosperity that comes from our membership of the single market.

"The alternative, Brexit, would see our young people's prospects knocked sideways by an economic shock and years of uncertainty."

Many of the borough's councillors are also planning to vote for Britain to remain in the EU.

Leonie Cooper, assembly member for Merton and Wandsworth, wants Britain to stay in the EU.
