The man convicted of killing Coulsdon student Meredith Kercher will appeal his 16-year jail term, Italian media reports.
Rudy Guede, from Ivory Coast, was convicted of the murder of the student in Italy in November 2007.
He is protesting his innocence as he serves his sentence in prison in Viterbo Mammagialla.
An application for a retrial on summary was presented on Tuesday morning, August 2, at the court of appeal in Florence, Corriere.it reports.
His application will be screened for eligibility and should it be approved, he will face a retrial.
