LOCARNO BALLROOM STREATHAM 1940/50s
Can you help? I am trying to find any information and/or photos about the Billy Harrison Quartet who played at the Locarno during this time.
Billy Harrison was my husband's father. They lived in several houses in Streatham when my husband William was a child. Barcombe Avenue and Killiester Avenue were two that my husband recalls.
When he was 8 years old his mother took him and left Billy. Although Billy maintained William he never saw his father again. I have discovered that after the 7 year separation period of the time both his mother and father remarried.
Billy married a girl whose family lived near Bristol so they were married at the Bristol Registry Office in 1955 but returned to Streatham straight away living at 1/16 Christchurch Road.
Billy was 47 and Margaret (possibly Peggy) Elaine (nee Fry) Harrison was 24 when they married. Sadly Billy died 5 years later we have no idea whether they had a child in the 5 years of marriage. We have nothing of his father as we imagine when his mother left him she left everything behind.
She had 3 children by the man she eventually married and we are in touch with the children, but of course they know nothing of their mother's marriage to Billy. His mother Elsie died in the 1970's. If anyone can tell me anything at all about Billy Harrison I would be extremely grateful.
