Tooting Market is an important, accessible space that supports its local area, small businesses and young artists. It is one of few places retaining its heritage in London and is one of the defining landmarks of Tooting; a place which many regard as the heart of their community.
“Whose Choice is it Anyway?” is an exhibition and active arts event presented by a group of emerging artists from the London area, on Tuesday 30th May, 6pm-9pm in Tooting Market.
Featuring visual, audio and interactive installations, the work will explore ideas around the possible closure of Tooting Market and the communities and individuals it could leave behind. The hope is to raise awareness and celebrate the diverse, exuberant nature of the market.
The group are interested in the active role that art can play, the resilience of the market and to what extent people have a choice.'
