The sarah harris school of swimming recently organised a sponsored swim to raise money towards the new Family Centre at Linden Lodge School in Southfields.

Linden Lodge provides essential education, support and pastoral care for children with visual impairment, including multiply-disabled special needs.

The Family Centre at Linden Lodge will support local families of special needs students.

The Family Centre will become a hub where people can meet both in and outside of school hours, and where they can engage with Linden Lodge staff and with each other to further aid and assist the needs of these students.

All swimmers of the sarah harris school of swimming undertook a continuous 5 minute swim and raised £15,000.

On Tuesday, the swim school celebrated the achievements of the top 5 fundraisers with a presentation made to them by Roger Legate OBE (Principal of Linden Lodge School), the Mayor of Wandsworth Councillor Richard Field and Deborah Rix (Headteacher of Linden Lodge School).

The top fundraisers were Jasper Varley-Johnson, Annabel Kidd, Imogen Kidd, Vanessa Mellitis and Ella Graham.

Ella raised a staggering £900! Roger Legate thanked the swimmers for their great achievements, as well as praising the quality and professionalism of the sarah harris school of swimming, based at Linden Lodge, offering swimming lessons to all, 7 days a week.

Sarah Harris who started the swim school in 1993 was also awarded the Mayor’s Pin and selected for the Mayor of Wandsworth’s Roll of Honour 2017.

Sarah said ‘We are delighted that the Mayor was able to attend our event and celebrate the money raised by our swimmers towards the Family Centre at Linden Lodge’.
