A 14-year-old who was found with an 18-inch knife in his waistband was arrested in Tooting yesterday.
Police were called to Franciscan Road at 6.20pm, on November 8, by someone who could see a person in a group of youths with a knife.
The group fled when officers arrived, but a teenage boy matching the description given to police later spotted in nearby Valnay Street.
He tried to escape but was soon detained and searched by police.
The teenager was charged with possession of an offensive weapon and has been released on bail to attend court.
