The Orchard Theatre in Dartford, has offered secondary school students doing the Young Reporter scheme, the chance to attend and write articles about their shows.

They are the first theatre to open these press events to students and Charlotte Griffin from Eltham Hill Secondary School in South East London, beat a lot of students to win and report on the show, The Jersey Street Boys.

Charlotte said: The whole night was an experience I will not be forgetting in a hurry.

This is a great chance for young people to not only see shows they might not have considered, but to meet up with some of the cast appearing in the show.

Stephanie Comis, Student Support Manager at Eltham Hill School, said: “We were thrilled to find one of our Post 16 participants, Charlotte Griffin beat off other competitors in the scheme to win the chance to report as a bona fide journalist at the Press Night at the Orchard Theatre for the show New Jersey Nights."

Several other shows are now in the pipeline from other theatres around the South East and students are eagerly submitting their best articles for judging, in the hope of being chosen to attend one of these events.
