The mural design for a Tooting car park which aims to combat against littering – voted for by the public – has been unveiled.
More than 600 people voted for the winning design, with it receiving 54 percent of the vote, and it will now feature on the site of fly-tipping ‘hotspot’ Church Lane car park.
Wandsworth Council has commissioned Anysurface artist Will Vibes to design it, which you can see by clicking our gallery.
Councillor Jonathan Cook, the council’s environment spokesman, said: “Tooting is a diverse and exciting place to live, work and visit.
“The transformation of Church Lane car park is a great example of how #NeatStreets Tooting will celebrate what makes the area unique while tackling the causes of littering.
“We are thrilled to have a street artist involved and hope that this new way of doing things will have the anticipated impact.”
The council is set to trial new ideas in Tooting to discourage littering across the borough following the launch of the #NeatStreets Tooting campaign on February 22.
