A primary school in Putney embarked on a choir tour to Belgium.

Falcons School for Girls toured around Belgium in their first ever three-day choir trip, in conjunction with partner school, Falcons School for Boys.

Excited pupils from the primary school on Woodborough Road, Putney, travelled across the channel for the musical and historical trip, being welcomed to the city of Bruges with a cruise along the canal to view this picturesque location.

The budding young singers performed at a home for the elderly and hosted a concert at the impressive Church of our Lady.

The girls spent time learning the history of the country with visits to key museums such as Memorial Museum Passchendaele and In Flanders Fields

The curious pupils also visited the well-known Tyne Cot Cemetery, Langemark Cemetery and had a guided tour of the Bayernwald Trenches.

Miss Madeleine Lang, head of music at the primary school said: “The tour was a huge success and a fantastic experience for our girls who were incredibly excited to be showcasing their talent in the historical location.

“The visit to Belgium was an educational trip that provided the perfect opportunity for our children’s learning to be enhanced, with a particular focus on history.”
