Justine Greening, MP for Putney, Roehampton and Southfields, has pledged her support to Scouts skills for life initiative.
On Wednesday, May 23, Scouts had the opportunity to visit Parliament to meet with their local MP’s to talk about the recently launched strategy.
Justine Greening, MP said: “It was great meeting a new generation of Scouts today coming into parliament and even better to see them learning skills for life whilst simultaneously having fun!”
The strategy launched on Tuesday, May 15 and includes reviewing and refreshing the programme for 14-25 year olds, with a focus on employability and life skills, exploring the possibility of extending Scouting to under six year olds and ensure the Scouts demographic is reflective of UK’s society demographics.
Simon Carter, head of media relations for Scouts said: “The scouts skills for life plan is all about ensuring that the Scouts’ demographic better reflects the demographics of UK society, with an aim to grow in another 500 areas of deprivation and under-representation; on top of the 834 groups established in similar areas of need over the last 4 years.”
