On Saturday 2nd June, The Cathedrals Express will take over 300 passengers through South West London, stopping at Tooting and Wimbledon Station.

This is the first time the steam train has done the journey in five years. It will start in London Victoria and go through Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.

The train is operated by Steam Dreams and was founded by steam train enthusiast Marcus Robertson.

Its first trip left London for Canterbury, Kent in 2000. Nearly two decades later Steam Dreams offers day trips to over 35 destinations, stopping at over 100 stations across the UK.

They ran their first day tour to Europe earlier this year and also offer multi-day trips across the British Isles.

The Cathedrals Express will be hauled by Black Five steam locomotive 45212, which was built in 1935 and returned to the mainline in 2017.

The trip on Saturday starts from £89.00 for standard class and goes up to £249, which includes food. Passengers can board at Victoria and Wimbledon and will take just over three hours.

The train will return to Waterloo in the evening, where passengers will be treated to a three-course meal.
