A man who helped save the life of a women is being sought by police, who would like to thank him.

On Tuesday, September 18 just after 1:00 pm, police were called to Putney Bridge with reports of a women standing on the wrong side of the bridge threatening to jump.

According to Wandsworth Police, five courageous members of public intervened and stayed with her until officers arrived.

The police have details of most of the people who intervened but one man remains unknown to them. He apparently climbed over the railings of the bridge and held onto the vulnerable women until police arrived, risking his own life for hers.

Wandsworth Police said on Facebook that "he undoubtedly saved her life, and allowed us valuable time to get to the scene, where we were able to offer her the medical care and support she needs."
