Tooting Bingo Hall has been reinvigorated by a nationwide rebrand by Buzz Bingo.

The hall, on Mitcham Road, was formally know as Gala Bingo, was one of over 100 bingo halls which relaunched as Buzz Bingo. The Tooting Broadway branch was one of the last one's to reopen on Thursday, September 27. Britain's Got Talent star Danny Oliver visited the hall in Tooting to mark the opening, among several residents and member of the community.

It was built in the 1930's and originally operated as a Granada cinema. The grade 1 listed building is considered by many to be one of the most spectacular cinemas in Britain, with its' upstairs theatre seats still intact. Buzz Bingo will become the UK’s biggest chain of bingo clubs. It used to be called Gala Bingo clubs but rebranded with a £40 million, two-year investment plan backed by Caledonia Investment.

Simon Shaw, Buzz Bingo, said: “When we asked our customers and colleagues to name a single word to describe their bingo experience, the word ‘Buzz’ came up time and time again, so we named our clubs after that feeling. We pride ourselves on our community spirit and our friendly and supportive team is buzzing about being part of your next fun day or night out with friends and family.”

The national re-brand hopes to attract more Millennials to the bingo halls after it was noticed that more young people than ever, between the ages of 18-34 are opting for face-to-face social interaction in bingo halls.
