DRIVERS are being asked to be aware of a slow moving and wide abnormal load that will be escorted through Wiltshire by police tomorrow (19 October 2018).

The load is due to leave Popham Airfield in Hampshire at 10.30am and will travel along the A303 (westbound), A36 and A350, then Imber Road and into DSG, Imber Avenue, where it is expected to arrive at 1.30pm.

It is two large military low-loaders laden with military equipment on a trailer pulled by a suitable tractor unit.

The first measures 4.4m wide, 4.5m high and weighs 115T.
The second is 4.1m wide, 4.1m high and weighs 77T.

It will be a large, slow moving load, so police are asking drivers to be aware and find alternative routes where possible.

Disruption will be kept to a minimum where possible, although motorists are asked to please be patient should they come across this load. Anyone travelling over this period on time critical matters should allow sufficient additional time.

Regular updates and travel information in respect of this abnormal load will be passed from the Control Room at Devizes where appropriate to help motorists plan their journeys.

Police escorting resources are being provided by volunteer officers.
