A video of a Morden student appearing to choke and punch another pupil has emerged online.

The footage, which is believed to have been taken in May, shows a Harris Academy Morden boy grabbing what appears to be another student's throat while holding him against a car.

Later in the video, it shows the same student holding and then punching the other pupil in the head, before throwing something in his direction.

Lee Mallin, principal of Harris Academy Morden said in response to the the video that he "wanted to assure everyone who has seen the footage online today of one of our students being bullied that we will not tolerate this type of behaviour.

"We were made aware of it this morning and Senior Staff have met with families and are completing investigations into the matter.

"The incident that was filmed apparently took place in May in the local community but we are still treating this seriously.

"Rest assured, the perpetrators are being dealt with appropriately and the police involved should that be necessary.

"We are in contact with local community groups and they are providing us with their full support."

A spokesman for the Met Police said that neither of the boys suffered any lasting injuries.

"Police are aware of a video clip being circulated of an altercation between two boys at a school in Merton," he said.

"Local officers have investigated and discovered that the incident took place in May 2018.

"The footage does not reflect the full circumstances of the incident.

"The boys involved are both year ten students and have both been spoken with by police."
