A Putney animal charity has been given a huge boost to help pay its vet bills.

RSPCA Wimbledon & District received a £10,000 grant from Support Adoption For Pets, just a few months after opening

The branch based in the RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital works to rehome cats, and since merging with neighbouring branch Surrey Sutton earlier this year, has doubled in size.

The branch manager, Laura Kennedy, said: “The grant will benefit our branch by covering some of our vet bills for the animals we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome.

“Our rehoming is currently at a record high since we opened the centre, and this not only means we are rehoming more cats but also means we are taking more in than ever before.

“When animals come in to us, we vet check them, vaccinate, neuter, microchip, and check for fleas and worms. These costs can often add up so that’s where the grant will be a huge help to us and we are exceptionally thankful to the Support Adoption For Pets team.”

Laura Messenger, grant funding coordinator at Support Adoption For Pets, said it was a privilege to help the organisation grow.

"They are doing a superb job, and the effort the rescue puts in is incredibly inspirational."
