Beddington and Wallington residents are being urged to remain vigilant following reports of distraction burglaries in their areas.
According to police, suspects have been targeting both vulnerable and elderly residents within communities in Sutton recently - but also particularly these two places.
The force is asking that everyone is “extra vigilant” and that people challenge anyone who they think is “behaving suspiciously”.

Suspects target elderly people within the community. Please can everyone be extra vigilant and challenge any persons behaving suspiciously. #beddington #wallington #police #burglary #bogus #challenge
Beddington North police, who issued the warning on November 14, have given out the following advice:
- If you’re not sure who is at your door, don’t open IT
- Check the identity of the caller by calling the company they are claiming to be from (i.e., gas, electricity, water, and police)
- Use the telephone numbers in your local directory, or provided independently by your service provider
- Do not use any telephone numbers provided by the caller – they may be bogus
