Plans to revamp a playground in Sundridge look set to be boosted as Bromley Council prepares to bid for funding.

Friends of Kings Meadow community group was formed in January 2018 and has spent months developing a project to improve the park.

With a growing membership, the group has consulted with parents over ways to upgrade the play area in Burnt Ash Lane.

FOKM’s proposal is to remove the fence between the field and current playground to create a bigger space with new equipment.

Parents also want to see more wheelchair-accessible and imaginative play equipment.

According to a new council report, councillors are set to approve plans to bid for up to £60k from the National Lottery to support FOKM’s improvements to the park.

Peter Morgan, councillor for Plaistow and Sundridge, said: “As ward councillors, we are pleased to support the Friends of Kings Meadow campaign and we are keen to hear the views of local people and park users so that we get the right mix of play equipment.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to respond as this will help with the business case and potential grant funding applications that will need to be submitted as we work in partnership to improve this much valued park space.”

The bid will be made to the lottery-funded Reaching Communities England fund.

Proposals will be discussed tomorrow night, November 20, and it’s hoped that the project could be finished by 2020.
